Susan

“Every decade is an opportunity for expanded enlightenment. Ignore the social pressure of how older women are supposed to look or act. What’s most important is staying true to yourself and living authentically, one day at a time,” says Susan.

Susan grew up in Amish country outside Philadelphia. Her interest in the human body began in the 1970s when she worked as a teacher promoting a vegetarian lifestyle—a practice she’s followed for 50 years.

She later worked as a massage therapist at the Esalen Institute in Monterey County before earning a Ph.D. in sex therapy. In her 30-year private practice, she has helped many individuals navigate the complexities of intimacy. Her book Am I Normal If? reflects that work.

A holistic healer, Susan is dedicated to wellness of body, mind, and spirit. She also practices yoga, walking, dancing, and sings karaoke.

About Style

Susan is a sage hippie with a gypsy soul. She favors comfortable clothing—whether dressy or casual—and prefers dark green, maroon, black, and all shades of denim. While she once wore ornate accessories, she now leans toward simplicity: big hoop earrings, slip-on cuff bracelets, and chokers with a hippie vibe. Authenticity matters most; her clothes reflect who she is, not current trends. Tall and slender, she often wears stretch pants and three-quarter sleeve spandex tops. Thrift stores are her preferred shopping ground, allowing her to buy, wear, and recirculate pieces as she embarks on her next style adventure.
